Great book, with a lousy editor

This book was used for a Human Factors class that focused on software engineering. I got an A+ in the class because I read the book. I found it easy to read, well written and in language that was easy to understand. I do think, however, that the editor didn't look at the book or was sleeping half the time. I found paragraphs duplicated on multiple occasions. The author though is top notch.

Disappointing - Lots of big words yet no facts

As I finished reading the first three chapters of the Practitioner's Handbook, I came to realize that I had learned nothing--not a single useful fact about user design or development. Yet, at the same time I had read hundreds of very large words. Torres wrote this book like a high school senior would write a paper: he B.S.ed it all. There is no apparent research put into the book... no statistics, facts, user studies, etc.
Definitely look elsewhere if you are searching for a handbook on interface design.
