Product Description
This guide covers the Baja Peninsula. Twice as long as the state of Florida, the peninsula hangs off the Pacific Coast of Mexico like a jagged piece of lightning. Until the 1700-kilometre highway was completed in 1973, the area was known only to those with enough money to travel by private boat or plane, or those with enough adventure to get around on foot. Part of the "Inside Pocket Guides" series, this book details a tour for the 1990s, leading visitors from the shopping haven of Tijuana in the north to land's end at Cabo San Lucas in the south. There are do-it-yourself itineraries, including all-day tours, half-day tours and short excursions. Hotels, restaurants and shops and supplies are also provided, with practical information on how to get there, when to go, what clothes to take, what visas to obtain and what to do in an emergency. A pull-out map is included, which not only helps visitors to orientate themselves, but also relates to seelcted excursions and itineraries featured in the book.

My Husband, children and I traveled through the Baja Penisula for a month earlier this year and we used the maps and information found in this guide. The full-size very detailed maps were more useful than other maps that we brought along. The book listed destinations(and historical facts on these destinations) in the order you would normally travel through them if coming in from the North and also includes recommendations for excellent dining locations and incredible little known sites that we never would have found. We could have made the trip without the guide but it made it easier and more enjoyable.
