Product Description
In February 2006 Jeremy Burfoot, a Qantas 747 Captain, and his friend Brad Burton rode their Seadoo personal watercraft (jet skis) around New Zealand. The men did the ride to help raise awareness of the dangers of skin cancer after Jeremy was diagnosed with a melanoma six months before. The journey took 19 days including 150 hours of riding to achieve and was 5,000km long. Along the way they visited 18 coastal cities and saw some of the most magnificent coastline in the world. The pair had to contend with giant seas, strong winds, a large shark and many other hazards. This is a historical story of an important record breaking event. It is the story of a mission to spread a message and the physical and logistical challenges that it entailed. As well as the ride the story includes interesting anecdotes and observations about the local geography and the history of New Zealand s coastline. The story is told in a relaxed and informal style that is entertaining, interesting and seriously funny. The book is 305 pages long in high quality paperback. It includes route maps and both colour and black and white photographs.
