Not His Greatest Hits, But His Best Works

It's hard to really call this album a "greatest hits" album since the only hit song Peter Schilling really had was "Major Tom (Coming Home)" from his 1983 album Error In The System. But for what it's worth, it does combine three selections from that album (including "Major Tom") with five from his little-heard 1985 follow-up album Things To Come plus the title track for a collection of songs that's worth listening to. Of course, the songs featured deal mostly with apocalyptic sci-fi or just social commentary (the rather sing-songy "(Let's Play) U.S.A." and the dark brooding "City Of Night (Berlin)" are good examples of the latter), so if you're into that kind of stuff, Peter has delivered it in spades and won't disappoint. It's too bad most of his music nowadays is for German audiences, including his rather surprising Delight Wellness Factor which by title alone sounds like Peter becoming a beacon of light to his audience.

I had this originally on tape and now found it on cd. Still great after all this time. Uniquely original stuff.

Not what I expected.

I bought this because of the fantastic reviews. But there's only one other song that I like besides Major Tom. The rest is kind of cheesy, with corny space lyrics that just don't keep up. But, just one song, Major Tom, is worth the price if you want a "hard copy" instead of downloading. I like having a CD, case and paper-thingy, even though this one is minimal, with no lyrics.

Bought This For One Song

iTunes doesn't have the English version of 'Coming Home', so I bought this album. I don't get why Peter Schilling was so big in Europe, I don't think he's that great. The title track is pretty good but I heard that it was produced later; it's got a rhythm similar to New Order's, True Faith. All the other tracks are fair to mediocre.
