Less punchy then expected.

I own two other Jo-el Sonier CDs; "Cajun Roots" and "Cajun LIfe." I felt that his accordian playing took a back seat and in many instances; listening to it while working, a few of the tracks blended together. As another reveiwer wrote that he missed the vocals, I did as well. Over all I felt it lacks that Cajun punch that his other two CDs had. I would really like to see this one back into production to Cajunize it more.

Jo-el's accordian playing is as great as ever on this disc. He does a great job of spicing up the melodies of old these hymns I learned growing up in a small Baptist church in Ohio in the 70's and 80's. The arrangements are a bit repetitious, and I would've preferred a little more edge and a little less straight ahead country approach to the songs. But my biggest disappointment was when I realized that it is only an instrumental disc. Jo-el has an amazing, soulful, weighty voice that could've powered out these tunes and made this disc so much more than it is.
