Album Description
Second solo project from this Chicago born keyboardist/composer features a more electronic approach to the contemporary pop/jazz genre. Greg Vail (sax) and Grant Geissman (guitar) nicely compliment Verta's keyboards and programmed drums. Time Line features the top 5 radio hit Night Of Orion and other standout compositons, such as Turning Point and Maybe Yes, Maybe No.

unplayed gem

BENOIT & CULBERSON fans will enjoy both recordings by VERTA. They have variety with catchy rythmns, that you would think would have warranted some airplay! How many times have I said that about narrow-minded radio stations!

I consider this album a hidden gem in that it is obscure, hard to find, and yet I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality and depth of the music for the whole album. I bought it for "Night of Orion", which was the only song I was previously familiar with, but then I discovered so many other good songs to go with it. I regret that J. Michael Verta has not produced any new albums recently. If you like up-tempo, yet silky-smooth jazz, this one is for you!

The cd is one of my favorite New age cd`s, and the combination of Vertas pianoplaying along with the beloved sax, the excellent gitarplaying and the computerbased(it sounds like it) drums in the back, creates magically sound of the time line, which it is.
