I was pleasantly surprised with this album. After the self-titled; that was still a "coal-chamberish" album this is a flawlessly livid music with great mosh-pit enjoyment.
One thing I know about Dez, is he carried a band for years "coal chamber" of course and wanting to sport change of sound then ended up a split of a band in differences of opinion and direction. So he's being wanting this opportunity for YEARS!! [yes, I fallowed him, f*cking sue me!!] This particular album floored my expectations and left out of the door quicker than the 1st. seriously what is your first thought when you hear his name "Dez Fafara" {?}
This band was very in-tune with what they wanted in the sound when they made it. You can tell this buy "End of the Line"!! My first thought was: "did Arch Enemy and Lamb of God get together in a one night stand have a f*ckfest 200 then pushed out DevilDriver ?" Completely awesome, brutal, progressive and just a perfect marriage of what a band should be with this kind of sound.
Dez shines over anything coal-chamber has done; this is what I think he wanted, and a whole lot more. I highly recommend this album with anything Arch Enemy, and Lamb of God, or Pantera. Plus Roadrunner helped put this out...another surprise!!!

For the brand new 'Last Kind Words' and I have to say that it is much better produced and faster paced than Fury Of Our Makers Hand and that alone satisfies me although there is nothing wrong with that 'chug chug' sound as on 'Fury'.

Better than their debut, but I think Dez was better in Coal Chamber

I was a big fan of Coal Chamber, so I took interest in DD because I like Dez's vocal style. These guys are much, much heavier than CC, but they are talented. I just don't think they can take the next step to gain the popularity that CC had. Hopefully their new one (coming soon) will take them to the next level. 3.5 stars.

This album was amazing! So fast and tough! Nice guitar solo in "Pale Horse Apocalypse". The best tracks were "Pale Horse Apocalypse", "Just Run", "End Of The Line", "Driving Down The Darkness", "Ripped Apart", and "Bear Witness Unto". I don't understand why so many love the song "Grinf**ked"? It's really not that heavy, and not that fast either. Dez Fafara is an awesome scrermer! But I would say their last 2003 album was better. Can't wait for their new album at 2007! I heard that it'll have more guitar solo's.
The good:
1. It can get really catchy and makes you headbang and make you angry!
2. Good and catchy guitar riffs.
The bad:
1. It's not as fast as their last album.

Excellent Heavy Album

DevilDriver really improved with the release of their dynamic sophomore album "The Fury of our Maker's Hand". This CD is excellent. The guitar riffs are amazing, and Dez Fafara is definitely unique with his vocals. The tracks vary in speed, whether it's the up-tempo of "Hold Back The Day" or "Driving Down the Darkness", or the doomy "Sin and Sacrifice". "Grinf**ked" is definitely the standout track and a definite anthem. Recommended if you like it heavy.
P.S. This isn't "brutal death metal". Brutal death metal is stuff like Devourment, Saprogenic, Gorgasm, etc. Just so that you know.
